Common questions
Who is KidKode for?
KidKode is designed for children ages 5–12 learning introductory programming ideas. Younger learners may benefit from help reading instructions and planning their first programs.
What will my child practice?
The 42 lessons introduce sequencing, loops, debugging, and guided conditions. Twelve real-life missions connect those ideas to delivery, gardening, and recycling.
How do we build a program?
Tap command blocks to add them to the plan. Use Run to watch the whole program or Step to explore one instruction at a time. If a plan does not work, use Reset, change the commands, and try again.
For a Repeat block, select the block, add the commands to repeat, and choose Done when finished. Adjust its repeat count with the plus and minus controls.
A mission is not complete even though Robo reached the end.
Real-life missions have a job to finish as well as a route to follow. Check the mission instructions: Robo may still need to pick up or deliver an item, water a dry plant, or sort a leftover.
Does the app need the internet or an account?
No account is needed. Lessons run offline. There are no ads or in-app purchases.
Where is progress saved?
Completed lessons, stars, and preferences are stored on the device. There is no KidKode account or developer-managed cloud progress service. Apple device backups are controlled by your Apple settings.
How do I reset progress?
Open Grown-up Settings and choose Reset all progress. This clears completed lessons and stars while keeping sound and narration preferences. Deleting the app removes its local data; device backups are managed by your Apple settings.
How do I change sound or spoken instructions?
Open Grown-up Settings to change sound and narration preferences. Spoken instructions use Apple's installed system voices. If you cannot hear them, check those settings and your device's volume and audio output.
Which devices are supported?
The current version is designed for iPhone and iPad running iOS or iPadOS 27 or later. KidKode is preparing for App Store release.
What should I do if the app stops responding?
Close and reopen the app, then try the lesson again. If the problem continues, email support with the lesson name and the steps that led to it. Avoid deleting the app as a first troubleshooting step because it removes locally saved progress.
